Genealogy Tip of the Day!
Adoptions Were Not Always Formal

Many “adoptions” were informal affairs where a relative or neighbor simply took in the child to raise as their own. There May have been no paperwork at all. In some times and locations there May be records of apprenticeships or guardianships‚ depending on the individual situation.

This photo aken on my great grandfather’s  farm in Cameron Township Murray County Minnesota.

I can identify all of my relatives in the photo but not the two ranch hands.

From left to right: Herman Reese (Died at 1) Rose Reese (my grandmother – Spouse Glen Hemphill) Mayme Great Grandma Amelia Reese-Ebert Bertha Reese-Nepp (Spouse Walter Nepp) Henry Reese (Spouse Frieda Hinz) Louise Reese-Baack (Spouse Arthur Baack) Martha Reese Fred Reese (Spouse: Hulda Puhl).

Top right: Ralph Reese.

Next to Fred Reese dressed in all black is a ranch hand I need help identifying.

On the ground:  Left Ranch hand need help identifying.  Right Great Grandpa Fritz Reese.

As you can see I know a lot about this photo.  My mind just will not let me dismiss the two ranch hands.  They have a name and they have a history.

Please help me.
